US Senator Cory Gardner says that the US should do all it can to counter China’s attempts to block Taiwan’s contributions to the world.
Gardner said China has been blocking Taiwan from taking part in international organizations. He said that the COVID-19 pandemic makes Taiwan’s participation in WHO meetings more crucial than ever.
Gardner said China is also putting more pressure than ever before on other international organizations to keep Taiwan out.
Gardner said the TAIPEI Act, which US President Donald Trump signed into law five days ago, calls for the US to openly support Taiwan’s participation in the WHO. He said Taiwan’s participation would not only allow it to get information on the COVID-19 outbreak, but also to share its expertise in fighting the pandemic with the world.
