Taiwanese nationals will be allowed to send surgical masks to relatives abroad starting Thursday, provided their relatives are also Taiwanese. That’s the world from Vice Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua.
The economics ministry says that citizens looking to ship masks to their Taiwanese relatives abroad can apply for permission from the Bureau of Foreign Trade, either online, via fax, or in person. The bureau will issue a permit number to applicants once it has determined that the sender and recipient are immediate family, that both are Taiwanese citizens, and that the recipient actually lives outside Taiwan.
Each person is limited to sending 30 masks abroad within a two-month period. Vice Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua warned Wednesday that packages will be x-rayed to ensure that no one exceeds this limit.
