Another 153 Taiwanese who flew back to Taiwan from Wuhan have been released from quarantine, after their 14 days were up on Monday.
This latest group arrived in Taiwan on March 29 on a flight from Shanghai. The flight was the first evacuation of Taiwanese citizens from the Chinese province of Hubei after outbound travel restrictions were lifted on March 26. They first traveled to Shanghai, and then to Taiwan via a charter flight.
Previous flights during the Wuhan lockdown brought evacuees directly to Taiwan.
One of the Taiwanese travelers released from quarantine on Monday, surnamed Wu, said that he had traveled to Hubei with his wife to visit her family on January 15. They ended up staying there for nearly three months due to the epidemic.
Wu said his wife was unable to return to Taiwan because she does not have Taiwan citizenship. But Wu said he was in a hurry to return because his son will take the senior high school entrance exam this semester. His son plans to return to school on Tuesday.
When asked about his quarantine at a center in Linkou, near Taipei, Wu said that the food was good. He thanked the center’s staff for taking good care of them.
Meanwhile, another group of Taiwanese who arrived in Taiwan on March 30, is set to be released from quarantine later this week.
