Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says Taiwan has no new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. That’s the first time Taiwan saw no new cases in 25 days.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak emerged in Wuhan, China last December, Taiwan has reported 393 confirmed infections, including six deaths. So far, 124 people have been released from quarantine and the rest are being treated in hospital isolation wards. The majority of those cases were infected abroad with only 13% of the nation’s cases of domestic origin.
Despite Taiwan’s containment of the coronavirus, Chen urged the public to remain vigilant as the pandemic is not over yet.
To curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, people traveling from abroad are required to stay in home quarantine for 14 days as they report any symptoms of the disease. Many of Taiwan’s cases have been discovered in home quarantine or at the airport.
