Taiwan has announced that it will donate two million surgical masks to Japan in order to help Japan fight COVID-19.
The foreign ministry said Thursday that the donation follows requests for medical supplies from a group of Japanese lawmakers friendly to Taiwan as well as a number of private groups.
The foreign ministry says that Japan and Taiwan can help one another during times of disaster. It said that the two sides have recently helped evacuate one another’s citizens stranded abroad by the COVID-19 pandemic, once again demonstrating the closeness and strength of Taiwan-Japan friendship.
