The Central Epidemic Command Center says that there were no new cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan on Friday.
This is the third day this week with no new cases reported in Taiwan. Tuesday was the first, ending a streak of 36 days during which the number of cases continued to climb.
The total number of cases Taiwan has recorded so far stands at 395. 340 of these cases were imported, brought in by people with a recent history of travel abroad. So far, only six of the cases have been fatal. 166 COVID-19 patients in Taiwan have made a full recovery.
There had been fears that imported cases would lead to more domestic transmission of COVID-19. However, the epidemic command center’s efforts at isolating COVID-19 patients and tracing their recent contacts have kept the disease contained.
