Tsai shares Taiwan’s pandemic response with TIME magazine
President Tsai Ing-wen's article in TIME magazine

TIME magazine has featured an article written by President Tsai Ing-wen in its latest edition. The article is titled “How My Country Prevented a Major Outbreak of COVID-19”. In it, Tsai explains how Taiwan has kept COVID-19 under control.

Tsai writes that Taiwan learned harsh lessons from the SARS epidemic of 2003. She writes that unity, transparency, and the spreading of factual information have been the most pivotal aspects of Taiwan’s response to COVID-19.

In addition, Tsai’s portrait is one of nine featured on the issue’s cover.

TIME magazine publishes a list of the world’s 100 most influential people every April. However, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, TIME has released a special edition called “Finding Hope”. In it, the magazine invites former TIME honorees to talk about the pandemic.

TIME editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal says that President Tsai was the first person that came to mind when planning this edition. He says that Tsai’s article can help other countries improve their own responses to COVID-19.
