Taiwan recorded one additional case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing Taiwan’s total so far up to 426. The patient in this case initially tested negative, but a second test administered after his condition worsened came back positive.
This case is the latest in a cluster that emerged aboard a naval vessel on a friendly overseas visit. The source of infection remains unclear—Palau, the country the ship visited, still has no confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Health authorities have identified 692 people who have recently come into contact with those infected on the ship. They have either been ordered into at-home quarantine or told to keep a close watch on their health.
