Taiwan saw its third straight day of no new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. It has a total of 429 cases. Tuesday also marked the 16th day in a row with no new domestic cases.

Of Taiwan’s cases, 343 are imported, 31 are from a navy ship cluster infection while 55 are domestic cases. Six have died while 307 have recovered and the rest are being treated in isolation wards.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) was set up 100 days ago. Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said there is still a ways to go in fighting COVID-19 but all indicators show Taiwan is moving in a positive direction.

Chen attributed Taiwan’s progress to the cooperation of its people. Though there have been social distancing rules, many have been advisories and people have cooperated. He highlighted the fact that Taiwan did not have to enforce a lockdown to achieve its current progress in containing the outbreak.
