Taiwanese companies are set to begin work on a domestically-built ventilator that can be used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Currently, Taiwan relies on imported ventilators to meet its medical needs.
The economics ministry is providing NT$50 million (US$1.7 million) for the project as part of an expansion of its COVID-19 relief budget. During a report on the budget Wednesday, Economics Minister Shen Jong-chin said that the necessary materials are in place and that companies are set to build 100 prototypes.
