The government has tightened controls on overseas travel by staff at a key defense technology body.
The National Chung-shan Institute of Science and Technology is charged with research and development in the field of defensive technology.
On Thursday, the Cabinet passed a revision to a statute governing the institute. Under the revision, institute staff must now receive prior approval for any travel outside of Taiwan. Those involved with sensitive information are also barred from travel to China, Hong Kong, and Macau.
