Taiwan saw one new imported case of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 437.

The patient is a woman in her 30s who went to the United States to study on January 30. She returned to Taiwan on April 9 with no symptoms. She went into 14-day home quarantine, as required for all who come to Taiwan from overseas. When a passenger on her flight tested positive for COVID-19 on April 11, she went into home isolation.

At the end of home isolation, the woman contacted health authorities to report a runny nose and nasal congestion on April 27. She tested a weak positive for COVID-19 and was put in a negative pressure isolation ward on April 30. On Monday, she again tested positive for COVID-19. She currently has no symptoms and is in an isolation ward.

Taiwan has a total of 347 imported cases, 55 domestic cases, and 35 cases recorded as part of a cluster infection on board a navy ship. Six people have died, while 334 have recovered and have been released. The rest are being treated in hospital isolation wards.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) says that people should continue to maintain a social distance of one meter outdoors and 1.5 meters indoors or wear masks. Officials are asking people to avoid crowded places, and are reminding people that masks are required on public transportation.
