Taipei’s Taiwan Adventist Hospital has teamed up with the foreign ministry to share Taiwan’s response to COVID-19 with North American officials and experts.
Over 100 officials and experts from the US and Canada joined with Taiwanese representatives Wednesday for a video-conference on the so-called “Taiwan Model” of responding to disease.
Among those representing Taiwan was Deputy Foreign Minister Hsu Szu-chien. Hsu says that the key points of the Taiwan Model are transparency of information, trust and cooperation between the government and citizens, and the use of technology to prevent the spread of disease.
Topics of discussion during the conference included border controls, explaining government policies to the public, and ways that medical institutions can keep a pandemic under control.
