Premier Su Tseng-chang is continuing to reorganize the Cabinet as President Tsai Ing-wen prepares to enter her second term.
The Cabinet formally tendered its resignation en masse Thursday in preparation for Tsai’s inauguration next week. In practice, however, some Cabinet heads are expected to be retained in their posts. On Friday, it emerged that Interior Minister Hsu Kuo-yung, Transportation Minister Lin Chia-lung, and Education Minister Pan Wen-chung will be among those staying on in their positions.
Details have also begun to emerge about who will replace departing Cabinet members. It appears that Hakka Affairs Council Minister Lee Yung-te is set to take the position of culture minister, with his deputy replacing him as head of the Hakka Affairs Council.
