Taiwan’s defense ministry has unveiled a new locally-developed machine that can detect COVID-19. It’s fully automated and analyzes nucleic acid with an accuracy of over 95%.
The ministry is introducing the equipment in accordance with advice from the Central Epidemic Command Center. The goal is to avoid more cluster infections like the one that occurred on a navy vessel in April.
The ministry says that 17 of the new machines have been delivered to military units already. The military is giving priority to naval units on long-term patrol duty, units in remote areas and on outlying islands, and military hospitals.
