Foreign Minister Joseph Wu says that Taiwan will continue to offer the world hope by upholding democracy in the face of Chinese threats.
Wu was speaking during an online conference on China in the post-COVID-19 era organized by think tank the German Marshall Fund.
Wu said that the ongoing struggle between democracy and authoritarianism is a competition not just between models but a competition between different values and ways of life. Wu said frequent Chinese provocations in the recent years have left nearby countries feeling threatened. But he said that Taiwan will defend democracy from its place on the frontlines of resistance to China.
Wu also spoke about the role Taiwan can play in the reorganization of global supply chains for key supplies. He said that Taiwan can supply the world with key raw materials and production technologies.
