Taiwan makes second donation of medical supplies to Philippines
Taiwan sent a second donation of medical supplies to the Philippines on Thursday

Taiwan has donated a second batch of medical supplies to the Philippines to help the country tackle COVID-19. The shipment included 550,000 medical-grade masks and 25,000 pieces of protective equipment.

The shipment arrived on Thursday morning at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. There, it was handed over to various local government agencies, hospitals, and research institutions.

Taiwanese Representative to the Philippines Michael Hsu says that the COVID-19 pandemic has shown no signs of slowing down. Every day, the Philippines sees an average of 500 new cases.

Taiwan’s government first donated 300,000 masks to the Philippines on April 15. Since then, Taiwanese associations in Manila have independently donated 57,900 pieces of medical equipment.

Head of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, Cesar Drilon Jr., has expressed gratitude on behalf of the Philippine government.
