Taiwan and Sweden to put NT$250 million into joint research
Taiwan and Sweden are set to put NT$250 million into a series of joint research projects.

Taiwan and Sweden are set to put NT$250 million (US$8.5 million) into a series of joint research projects. That was the word from the science ministry on Thursday.

These six research projects are taking place under the aegis of an agreement signed last year between the science ministry and the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. The projects involve 23 Swedish scientists and 14 scholars from Taiwan.

NT$200 million (US$6.8 million) of this funding will come from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research over the next five years. The remainder will come in the form of investment from the science ministry.

The projects being funded focus on communications, biotechnology engineering, and materials research.
