COVID-19: Taiwan records new case, bringing total to 448
Health officials in Taiwan have confirmed one additional imported case on Thursday.

Taiwan recorded a new imported case of COVID-19 on Thursday. The new case brings the total number of COVID-19 cases Taiwan has recorded so far up to 448.

The patient in the latest case is a Taiwanese national who had been working in Mexico since February. The patient became unwell during June, while still in Mexico, and sought medical attention more than once. However, the man was not tested for COVID-19. His condition improved, and he arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, he informed airport staff of his recent symptoms and was tested for COVID-19. The test came back positive on Thursday.

Health authorities have identified 23 people that the man recently came into contact with. Of these, eleven people, including passengers sitting in the rows immediately in front of and behind the man on his flight to Taiwan, have been ordered to go into home quarantine. The remainder, including the crew of the flight, is being told to be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms over the next 14 days.
