Premier Su Tseng-chang says that Taiwan will become the most advanced process center for semiconductors in Asia. Su was speaking Thursday during the Cabinet’s weekly briefing.
Su said that Taiwan’s semiconductor sector is set to undergo an industrial transition. He said that Taiwan’s short-term goals are attracting foreign investors and producing a total output value of NT$5 trillion by 2030.
The Cabinet also plans to provide more support for the domestic raw material and equipment supply chains, encouraging manufacturers to source materials and manufacture advanced equipment locally.
The economics ministry says that Taiwan’s semiconductor industry is already doing well globally. According to the ministry, Taiwan’s semiconductor makers reached an output value of NT$2.7 trillion last year – the second-highest in the world.
