Taiwan’s third round of government bailouts is set to benefit the manufacturing and tourism sectors. That was the word from Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua on Monday .
Wang says the new plan will target the hardest hit industries amid the global pandemic. She says that things have been especially bad for manufacturers whose exports have dropped dramatically since the outbreak began earlier this year.
Like the two previous bailouts, the new plan will help companies that suffered a revenue loss of over 50%. Wang says the government is hoping to offer NT$200 billion (US$6.8 billion) in the latest round of bailouts. She says the Cabinet is hoping to garner support from the legislature before discussing and passing the plan on July 23.
