President Tsai Ing-wen says that Taiwan’s national security hinges on strong defense capabilities. Tsai was speaking Thursday while inspecting a live-fire, anti-landing drill on a beach in Taichung.
The drill is part of the annual Han Kuang military exercises, a five-day series of drills that kicked off Monday.
Tsai said the exercises are held every year so that the armed forces can be put to the test. More importantly, she said that the exercises aim to demonstrate Taiwan’s determination to defend itself to the world.
