The Golden Horse Awards -- known as the Chinese-language Oscars -- have come up with a timely gift for honorees this year: custom-made face masks.
The academy released four designs for the new face masks on Monday. They feature the logo for the awards, and splashes of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple across a black background.
The designers will use state-of-the-art digital printing technology to transfer the image to large pieces of fabric, rather than printing each mask separately. They say that every mask will be unique, just like people in the movie industry.
The masks, produced by medical supply maker CSD, will be given to all of the nominees at this year’s festival. Other gifts will include a custom-made gold electric steamer.
The deadline for submission to this year’s Golden Horse Awards is fast approaching. Entries must be turned in by July 31. The nominees will be announced on September 30, ahead of the ceremony on November 21.
