Tourism Bureau promotes “wedding in the clouds”
The Tourism Bureau is promoting "Wedding in the Clouds," for couples who are interested in saying their vows on Lishan Mountain.

Where’s the fun in getting married when you can’t do it somewhere that’s out of this world? In Taiwan, you can exchange your vows in the clouds and spend your first night together as a couple in an indigenous village. And the Tourism Bureau can make it happen!

The Tourism Bureau has good news for those who want their weddings to be a little different: you can now get married in a little church that’s perched 2,100 meters above sea level. The Lishan Jesus Church is the church with the highest elevation in Taiwan. It offers a lovely view of Daxueshan, one of Taiwan’s many beautiful mountains.

Couples who sign up for the Tourism Bureau’s “Wedding in the Clouds” will also get a three day trip as part of the wedding package. They will get to experience the indigenous Atayal people’s wedding rituals as well as a coming-of-age ceremony. In addition, they get a wedding photo-shoot in a tea plantation nearby.

The Tourism Bureau is hoping that this will help draw more people to visit the Atayal villages on Daxueshan. But spots are limited! The bureau says couples from all over the world mailed in their applications to get married in the cloudy mountains, but only twelve slots were available. So sign up for the next wedding date while you still can!
