The Taiwan Blood Services Foundation has announced that it will offer a live feed of its blood inventory levels on Facebook. The information will show stocks of each blood type at blood banks across Taiwan.
Facebook can also send out notifications to people when blood banks are in need. The foundation says it hopes that by sharing how much blood it has, people will be motivated to donate when supplies are low.
The Taiwan Blood Services Foundation says that this service is the first of its kind in East Asia. The foundation currently publicizes similar information on its website.
The health ministry says that the plan to add this information to Facebook will help stabilize blood stocks across Taiwan. The service is expected to go live on Friday.
