The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Tuesday reported one new imported case of COVID-19 from the Philippines. The new case raised the total number of confirmed cases in Taiwan to 476.
The new case is a woman in her 50s who had been in the Philippines for a long time. The CECC is working on identifying the passengers who were in close contact with the woman on the flight to Taiwan.
Meanwhile, a Belgian man in his 20s who recently contracted COVID-19 sparked concern about the possibility of a second wave of domestic infections in Taiwan. Health officials confirmed that the man had traveled to Taipei, Taichung, Yilan and Changhua in June. Health experts estimated that the man could have contracted the disease while in Taipei. But the CECC said that their office has yet to be able to confirm whether the case is a domestic or an imported one.
