Former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori is set to lead a delegation to Taiwan that will pay respects to late President Lee Teng-hui. Lee passed away on July 30 at the age of 98 due to multiple organ failure.
The Japanese Diet held a press conference Friday outlining plans for the visit. A total of seven Japanese lawmakers will travel to Taiwan on a charter jet.
Each will be tested for COVID-19 before departing for Taiwan. The delegation is expected to arrive in Taipei on August 9. It will visit Lee Teng-hui’s memorial at the Taipei Guesthouse. The delegation will return to Japan on the same day.
