US President Donald Trump has praised Taiwan’s success in containing COVID-19. Trump was speaking Tuesday during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
Hewitt asked Trump if there was a larger meaning to US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar’s visit to Taiwan. Trump said that the visit is primarily focused on discussions about COVID-19. Hewitt asked whether Trump will visit Taiwan later this year. Trump said that he has no plans to do so.
Hewitt also asked Trump whether Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan should get nuclear or hypersonic missiles as a result of Chinese belligerence and a recent China-Iran security agreement. Trump did not answer his question but said that this was an important subject to be discussed in the next two months.
