Taiwan took 5th place on the medal table at the 2020 International Chemistry Olympiad. 231 high school students from 60 countries participated in the event, which was held in Turkey.
The education ministry says that Taiwan’s four contestants won two gold and two silver medals in total.
Taiwan’s two gold medalists scored above 90%, putting the two in 16th and 21st place overall. The silver medalists finished in 27th and 36th place overall.
Vietnam and the United States tied for first on the medal table, with four gold medals each. Meanwhile, China and Singapore tied for third with three gold medals each.
