A Taiwanese biotech firm has gotten the go ahead to begin human trials for a COVID-19 vaccine. And while it’s the first Taiwanese company to get approval for human trials, others are not far behind.
Taiwan’s Adimmune Corp. has developed an experimental COVID-19 vaccine that’s shown promise in animal testing. And now, the vaccine is ready for a first-stage clinical trial using human subjects.
After getting a green light from the government, the company is preparing to recruit around 60 human volunteer subjects aged 19-55. The test will seek to uncover potential side effects and determine how effective the vaccine is in giving immunity to COVID-19.
Two other Taiwanese firms have submitted applications to start human testing of their own vaccines, giving hope that an effective way to stop COVID-19 may be on the way.
