Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil is set to lead a delegation to visit Taiwan next week. That’s the word from Foreign Ministry official Johnson Chiang on Tuesday.
Chiang said the 90-member delegation includes lawmakers, academics and musicians.
During his visit, Vystrčil will call on President Tsai Ing-wen and other top officials. He will also give a speech at the Legislature and attend a bilateral investment forum.
Chiang said the delegation will promote exchanges and cooperation in trade, investment, hi-tech, medical care, tourism and culture. Chiang said the Czech Republic can serve as a production and R&D base for Taiwanese manufacturers in Central and Eastern Europe.
Meanwhile, Legislature President Yu Shyi-kun said the Legislature will honor and recognize the Czech Senate President for standing firm in support of freedom and democracy despite pressure from China.
