Representatives from Taiwan and the US issue a joint declaration on 5G security.

Representatives of Taiwan and the US have issued a joint declaration on 5G security. The US representative office in Taiwan and Taiwan’s representative office in the US issued the declaration on Wednesday.

The declaration stresses that the development, deployment, and commercialization of 5G must be conducted on the basis of free and fair competition, transparency, and the rule of law.

Among those in attendance during the declaration’s release was Foreign Minister Joseph Wu. Wu said that information security is national security, and that Taiwan has completely excluded all software, hardware, equipment, and services that might pose a risk to its information security.

Wu also said that Taiwan is willing to join the US 5G Clean Path initiative. He said the US government will add Taiwan’s five telecom firms to its “clean 5G” list.
