Taiwan has established a maintenance center for its F-16 fighter jets. The center opened on Friday, and will be operated by Taiwan’s Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation.
President Tsai Ing-wen was at the opening ceremony on Friday. She said that the center’s opening is a big step for Taiwan’s aerospace industry. She said that the center will shorten maintenance times for F-16 fighter jets and strengthen Taiwan’s defense capabilities.
Tsai says that the center will establish domestic supply chains and foster local talent. She says that over the next 30 years, the center will create 600 jobs annually and generate NT$200 billion (US$6.8 billion).
