The computer-aided war games portion of Taiwan’s annual Han Kuang military exercise will begin on September 14. The war games will take place continuously over five days and four nights, and simulate a Chinese attack on Taiwan.
There has been speculation that the war games are a response to increased Chinese military activity around Taiwan. However, Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang says that the games scheduled for September 14 are a routine part of the Han Kuang military exercises.
Chang says that information regarding an exercise responding to Chinese aggression would be handled by the defense ministry and national security organizations. Chang says that he is unable to speak on the matter due to national security concerns.
