Taiwan reported two new imported COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 509. That was the word from the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Monday.
Both of the new cases are Taiwanese nationals. One is a man in his 20s who returned to Taiwan on Saturday from Indonesia. He developed symptoms last week, and reported them upon arriving in Taiwan. The CECC is tracking 32 people who came in contact with him.
Case number 509 is a man in his 30s, who returned on Saturday from Myanmar. He was on the same flight and seated one row ahead of another confirmed case (number 505). The newest confirmed case asked for a COVID-19 test after he started coughing, and experienced a fever and a loss of his sense of taste on Friday. After the results came back positive, the man is now being treated in a hospital isolation ward.
According to the CECC, Taiwan has reported 91,652 suspected COVID-19 cases, of which, 509 were confirmed positive. So far, seven people have died of COVID-19 in Taiwan. Another 479 people have been discharged, and 23 people are still being treated in hospital.
