Digital Minister Audrey Tang

Taiwan’s Digital Minister Audrey Tang made an online appearance at an event organized by the Irish Construction Industry Federation. During her appearance, Tang shared Taiwan’s experience handling the COVID-19 outbreak domestically through public participation.

Tang was listed alongside Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin and Irish Minister of Housing Darragh O’Brien as the event’s keynote speakers.

The theme of Tang’s address was “how digital innovation can fight pandemics and strengthen democracy”. In the speech, Tang highlighted the ways Taiwan encouraged public participation in the implementation of COVID-19 prevention measures. Tang said that Taiwan’s strategy against COVID-19 consisted of “fast, fair, and fun” policies.

She said that the public was pivotal in combatting disinformation, making public data available, and creating online resources to fight the pandemic.
