Taiwan recorded two new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases Taiwan has recorded so far up to 523. Both of the new cases are imported.
One patient is a Taiwanese woman who returned to Taiwan on October 4 after around one year of working in Ireland. She showed no symptoms upon arrival in Taiwan, and went directly into home quarantine. On October 5, she developed a fever and other symptoms of COVID-19. A COVID-19 test came back positive on Wednesday.
The other new patient is an Indian national in Taiwan for work. He tested negative for COVID-19 within three days of his departure for Taiwan.
On arrival on September 9, he showed no symptoms. He continued to appear well through his two weeks in quarantine and through several additional days spent in a hotel monitoring his health. For work-related reasons, however, he was then given another COVID-19 test on October 5. That test came back positive on Wednesday.
