Three Indian media outlets have published news about Taiwan’s National Day and related ads despite opposition from China.
On Wednesday, newspapers Indian Express and the Statesman both published full-page ads promoting Taiwan’s National Day, while on the same day, TV station WION reported on Taiwan’s cooperation with India in a program.
Unhappy with the ads and media coverage, China’s embassy in India asked the Indian media to abide by India’s “one China” policy. In response, Indian independent journalist Aditya Raj Kaul tweeted that China was making an “indirect threat” towards the outlets.
