Tsai: Taiwan opposes acts that threaten regional security
President Tsai Ing-wen gave a pre-recorded speech at the Yushan Forum.

President Tsai Ing-wen says that Taiwan is against any unilateral and aggressive acts that threaten regional security. Tsai was speaking Thursday during the fourth annual Yushan Forum.

The Yushan Forum, organized by a local think tank, is an Asian regional dialogue that aims to deepen Taiwan’s cooperation and exchanges with other countries.

Tsai said that Taiwan will proactively contribute to the creation of a region that is free, open, inclusive, transparent, equal, and operates on a rules-based order. Tsai said that Taiwan opposes any heavy-handed and unilateral aggressive actions that jeopardize regional security and solidarity. She said any politically-motivated attempt to keep Taiwan from sharing its experience and making contributions does not serve the collective interests of the region.

Tsai said that Taiwan is willing and able to cooperate with Asian partners. She said the New Southbound policy that her government has been actively promoting is in line with ASEAN’s outlook on the Indo-Pacific, as well as India’s Look East policy.
