A congressional friendship association is planning to invite former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to visit Taiwan next March.
The cross-partisan association, founded by DPP lawmaker Kuo Kuo-wen, aims to promote friendship between Taiwan and Japan.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Kuo said 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the devastating Tohoku quake and tsunami. The incident also saw the opportunity for friendship and mutual assistance between the two sides following the disaster.
Kuo said his association is planning to invite Shinzo Abe to give a speech at the Legislature.
