Foreign Minister Joseph Wu has expressed condolences to the French Office in Taipei over terror attacks carried out by Islamic extremists in France over the past few weeks. Wu expressed sympathy and sadness for the families of the victims on behalf of President Tsai Ing wen and reiterated Taiwan’s support for France.
The foreign ministry has condemned the attacks, saying that Taiwan and France share the values of freedom and democracy. It said any attack on France is an attack on those shared values. It also says that democratic societies respect all religions, but that disputes should be resolved through dialogue rather than violence.
