President: Government will begin focusing on investment in Africa
President Tsai Ing-wen on Monday morning

President Tsai Ing-wen says that Taiwan’s government will soon start vigilantly pursuing opportunities in Africa. Her remarks came Monday morning, during a meeting with a delegation from the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women (GFCBW).

Tsai says that Taiwan’s economic performance throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been stellar. She says the country has attracted record high investment as well.

The president says that the government is now working on an “Africa plan.” She says the plan was conceived last year with the goal of encouraging Taiwanese businesses to invest in Africa. She says the government will hold an African investment forum on November 27 to assess the feasibility of her administration’s plan.

Many members of the GFCBW have developed business ties in South Africa. Tsai called on those members to help develop channels for Taiwanese businesses to enter Africa.
