VIDEO: First Human Rights, Art & Living Festival set to kick off in late Nov.

The first Human Rights, Art and Living Festival is set to kick off in late November.

The festival, organized by the National Human Rights Museum, aims to demonstrate the core value of human rights in modern times.

The festival will be held at the Jing-Mei White Terror Memorial Park from late November to early December. The period was chosen to mark both International Children’s Rights Day on November 20 and International Human Rights Day on December 10.

The poet Hong-hong recites a new poem, accompanied by saxophone music. The poem is dedicated to the memory of the first group of teachers and students put to death in 1950 during the White Terror era.

This poetry reading is a preview of the upcoming Human Rights, Art and Living Festival. Director of the National Human Rights Museum, Chen Chun-hung, says that the festival aims to revisit this dark chapter of history and introduce it to those too young to remember. Chen says the museum wants to express its condolences to the victims while also recognizing that Taiwan is moving forward towards a brighter future.

In addition to poetry, there will be dancing, music, drama, lectures and children-friendly activities, so that different age groups can have a better understanding of human rights.
