The new ruling coalition in Lithuania on Monday said it will support countries that fight for freedom including Taiwan.
The Baltic nation signed a new coalition agreement to carry out a “value-based foreign policy”. The country also said it opposes violations of human rights and democratic freedoms around the world.
The leader of one of the parties that make up the new incoming government of Lithuania has voiced support for Taiwan. Freedom Party leader Ausrine Armonaite said that “Taiwan has to be given a chance to be recognized.”
Taiwan currently does not have diplomatic relations with Lithuania.
