China protests upcoming Taiwan-US economic dialogue
A spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry has protested against the United States’ plans to hold an economic dialogue with Taiwan.

A spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry has protested against the United States’ plans to hold an economic dialogue with Taiwan.

Representatives from Taiwan and the US are set to hold the first round of the Taiwan-US Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue on November 20.

Asked by a Reuters reporter about the upcoming dialogue during a press conference Wednesday, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson called on the US to adhere to the one China principle and the Three Communiques signed between the US and China.

Taiwan’s foreign minister, Joseph Wu, has said that he hopes economic talks between the US and Taiwan become a regular occurrence. He also said that the US and Taiwan could soon sign a memorandum of understanding.
