Two of Taiwan’s ministers are set to attend an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting on Monday night. The meeting will take place via videoconference. The minister of Taiwan’s National Development Council, Kung Ming-hsin, and Minister without Portfolio John Deng will each be allotted three minutes to speak during the meeting.
Kung says he plans to use his three minutes to emphasize three key points. Those include: Taiwan’s economic success despite the pandemic, it’s willingness to contribute to the international community; and economic inclusivity, with an emphasis on elevating the role of women in the workplace.
Meanwhile, Deng says that he will use most of his time to advocate for trade and investment freedom among APEC countries. He says he will focus on Taiwan’s economic performance, the country’s support of free trade, and APEC’s strategy beyond 2020.
