Taiwan Creative Content Fest kicks off

The Taiwan Creative Content Fest, a festival of culture organized by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency, kicked off on Thursday.

At the opening of the event, Vice President William Lai said that he is happy to see the agency build a creative content platform that helps Taiwan’s creative and cultural industries take to the international stage through forums, exhibitions, and exchanges. Lai said he wishes the cultural festival success, and hopes it will allow Taiwan to build up a cultural brand.

Lai said that two years ago, while he was serving as premier, then-Culture Minister Cheng Li-chun sensed flagging morale in Taiwan’s film and television industries, with talented workers from the industry moving abroad. However, Lai said that Taiwanese people still want to see their own culture on display, and so it was that the Taiwan Creative Content Agency came into being last year.

Lai said that he supported the agency’s creation, both out of a wish to stimulate Taiwan’s creative and cultural industries, but also out of a realization that culture is the root of a nation, and is an important force for bringing a nation’s people together. He said he hopes that Taiwan’s creative and cultural industry will serve as an ambassador for Taiwan, letting the world see Taiwanese stories and understand Taiwan while raising Taiwan’s international visibility.
