Nine more staff members at Taiwan’s representative office in Washington, DC tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. That follows two cases confirmed the previous day. All the infected suffer minor symptoms.

Taiwan’s envoy to the US, Hsiao Bi-khim who had been in contact with some of the infected staff members, has tested negative and is in home quarantine.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Joanne Ou said Friday that the office has closed in-person consular services and is only accepting mail-in applications. The office building has been closed for disinfection. Office employees who are ill have been asked to isolate themselves and work from home.
