The foreign ministry has hit back at Chinese criticism of US arms sales to Taiwan.
The United States recently announced that it will sell Taiwan a Field Information Communications System. This will be the sixth US arms sale to Taiwan so far this year. China has criticized the sale, saying that it violates the one China principal.
On Wednesday, the foreign ministry said that Taiwan purchases military equipment from abroad in order to defend its territory and protect its freedom, democracy, and pluralistic society.
The ministry said that China’s suppression of Taiwan’s position in the international community will only serve to further stir resentment among Taiwan’s people and increase their determination to protect their home, their freedom, and their way of life.
