President Tsai offers condolences over Eswatini Prime Minister’s passing
eSwatini Prime Minister Ambrose Dlamini passed away on Sunday at the age of 52

President Tsai Ing-wen expressed her condolences on Monday after the passing of eSwatini Prime Minister Ambrose Dlamini a day earlier at the age of 52.

Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang relayed Tsai’s remarks, saying that Prime Minister Dlamini had always supported Taiwan’s participation in the international community.

eSwatini is Taiwan’s only diplomatic ally in Africa. President Tsai has directed Taiwan’s Embassy in eSwatini to express condolences on behalf of the government of Taiwan.

Prime Minister Dlamini was admitted to a South African hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. eSwatini’s government has not said whether his death was related to that illness.
